Lee County Conservation invites families and individuals to join Naturalists Clay and Lia for a free family float event at Heron Bend Conservation Area, located at 2652 Hwy 61, Montrose, IA 52639, on Saturday, June 15. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the backwaters of the Mississippi River by canoe or kayak, guided by expert naturalists.

Participants can enjoy a safe and shallow section of the river, ideal for beginners and young paddlers. Lee County Conservation will provide all necessary equipment, including life vests and watercraft. Two paddle sessions are available at 10 AM and 11 AM, each lasting 45 minutes.

Pre-registration is required as space is limited. To ensure the safety of all participants, children must weigh at least 30 pounds to use the provided life vests and watercraft. Participants will be assigned to kayaks and canoes at the discretion of the naturalists.

Please note, this event is weather dependent. In case of inclement weather, registered participants will be notified of any changes or cancellations.
