Join us on May 10 for National Train Day at the Historic Santa Fe Depot in Fort Madison! As a tribute to our rich railway history, we're hosting our special fundraiser for the Fort Madison Tourism Bureau again this year.
At 8 am, our fundraiser commences with a ribbon cutting of the new Fort Madison Timeline in the Santa Fe Depot. Artist Conrad Hellman from the University of Iowa, worked with the Fort Madison Tourism office and the North Lee County Historical Society to create this installation. View the new art piece and then tour the baggage room filled with the Police and Fire Exhibit including the 1873 Silsby Fire Pumper.
After the ribbon cutting, Chi Eastin, the Fort Madison Tourism Director, will be lifted into the Santa Fe Depot tower in collaboration with the Fort Madison Fire Department. For the next 8 hours, Chi will engage in hourly challenges, broadcasting live on Facebook and interacting with viewers on Virtual Railfan's YouTube page to raise funds for the Tourism office.
You can support our cause by making donations through our website www.visitfortmadison.com. Proceeds from this event will contribute to various tourism initiatives and the creation of the Festivals & Cultural Events Support Fund. This program aims to assist with creating new events that capture the authentic charm and warm hospitality that define Fort Madison, benefiting both residents of Lee County and visitors alike.
